evolving technology to expedite the response and arrival of law enforcement, the grant will assist school districts to implement emergency systems. See SB 5197 http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=5197&year=2013.

Qualifying projects will assist law enforcement to shorten arrival times and/or provide information for a quicker response.

At minimum, school districts will be expected to demonstrate collaboration with local law enforcement to develop an emergency response plan. That plan should be part of future updates to their School Safety Plan. The School Safety Committee is developing a model emergency response plan that is expected to be available this fall.

Tentative dates include:
• An iGrant application packet will be available on December 2, 2013.
• The application deadline is March 14, 2014.
• Grant awards will be announced shortly after the application deadline.
